2007 UFC/CWU Reopeners Ratification Procedure

1) This email will serve as notice to our members that bargaining is over and that we’re now starting the ratification procedure. According to the UFC Bylaws, Article 10, a ratification vote can take place 7 days after this notification.

2) UFC will host three ratification meetings on Thursday, December 6 (place to be announced). They will be at 8:00 – 10:00 AM, 12:00 – 2:00 PM, and 3:00 – 5:00 PM. At these meetings, the bargaining team will present the TA’d documents and answer questions. Those of you at the centers, if you have questions, please give me a call (2178).

3) Voting: The vote is a simple yes/no on the entire package (1, 10, 20, and wages). A ‘Yes’ vote means that your preference is to ratify the entire package. You may select one of the following three voting procedures:

a. During and inbetween the ratification meetings, members will have the option to vote in person (secret ballot). Basically, we’ll have someone manning a desk all day to collect ballots. Location to be announced.

b. Send your vote via snail mail to: UFC, PO Box 157, Ellensburg, WA 98926-0157. To ensure secrecy, put your vote (yes/no [just write it on a piece of paper]) inside an envelope, which then goes inside an envelope that has your name as the return address. We’ll check your name off the membership list, then add the unopened blank envelope containing your vote to a pile of similar envelopes.

c. This option is primarily for those faculty at our centers. I will also accept email votes. Note, these are not entirely secret; however, when counting the votes, I will provide a summary list of names and total yes/no votes. In this way, specific identities will not be known beyond myself.

4) All ballots received by 5:00 PM Thursday, 6 December will be counted.

5) The ratification is for UFC members. Any faculty can become a member and vote prior to the 5:00 PM December 6 deadline.
